San Francisco is grappling with a fentanyl crisis, and efforts are being made at the state and federal level to address the issue. House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi recently requested that the Justice Department create a new operation, dubbed Operation Overdrive, to target fentanyl cartels. Mayor London Breed revealed that she has been in discussions with Pelosi and other federal agencies, working toward addressing open-air drug dealing in the city. State help has also been provided through the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and National Guard in an operation launched earlier this month.
