A suspect has finally been apprehended in connection with a series of commercial burglaries in Walnut Creek, ending the mystery that began in September 2022 and concluded in March 2023, according to KRON4. All four occurrences took place in the 2400 block of Buena Vista Avenue and remained unsolved for months.

Walnut Creek Police Department turned to social media in an attempt to identify the suspect, posting video footage and images of the individual on Facebook back on March 22, 2023, appealing to the public for assistance in the investigation, which proved to be a successful strategy that eventually led to the arrest of the suspect.

As reported by The Patch, the fruitful campaign generated several leads; ultimately, the suspect was identified as 36-year-old Joseph Alan Ramos from Concord. On June 5, Ramos was apprehended in Sacramento County, where he currently remains in custody, pending a transfer to Contra Costa County.

In this collaborative effort between social media users, the public, and law enforcement agencies, Ramos now faces four counts of second-degree commercial burglary, as was officially filed when the case was presented to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office earlier this month.
