In the quiet college town of Davis, the tragic death of David Breaux, known as "the Compassion Guy," has left a community in reflection. For over a decade, Breaux engaged passersby with conversations about compassion, collecting their thoughts in a notebook and eventually self-publishing them. His spot across from Central Park became known as Compassion Corner, and the city even installed a sculptured bench in his honor. Breaux, who was mostly unhoused but never considered "homeless" by residents, lived a simple and pure life and displayed a genuine sense of community and understanding.
