On the annual Pride Weekend, the former home of The Stud, a now defunct LGBTQ bar in San Francisco, follows the tradition of metamorphosing into a canvas for heartfelt graffiti. However, this year the rituals took a darker turn when, not only were neighboring buildings and vehicles baptized with vibrant spray cans, but four cars were also severely vandalized, rendering them undrivable.
With messages of vengeance and rebellion garnishing the urban skins of the city, residents and local business owners are troubled by the scale of the destruction and the lack of an immediate enforcement response. Notably, the spray painting spree, initially perceived as poetic justice for the LGBTQ+ community, has taken a violent turn, casting a long, disconcerting shadow over the Pride Week festivities.
