21-year-old David Matthew Foster has been charged and sentenced for his involvement in the brazen $120K hammer smash-and-grab robbery at the Serramonte Center's Infinity Jewelers store in Daly City, according to Henry Lee KTVU on Twitter. Foster received a 9-month jail sentence and probation after pleading no contest to robbery charges.
The robbery, which took place back in September 2021, was a high-profile incident that left both store employees and shoppers in shock at the time. Seven suspects were involved, as they entered the jewelry store with hammers and destroyed the display cases to grab the expensive items inside in a matter of seconds, as reported by CBS San Francisco. In the chaos that ensued, thousands of dollars in Rolexes, rings, chains, and other valuable items were taken from the store.

Four of the suspects were arrested shortly after the crime by Daly City police, who chased down a Lexus vehicle seen speeding away from the scene of the robbery. The Lexus crashed into a cement barrier and struck another vehicle, leading to the immediate detention of the driver and one of the passengers. Two additional suspects fled on foot but were later apprehended with the help of other law enforcement agencies.
Atonio Finau was found guilty of robbery, burglary, and evading, while Ioany Masuisui Jr. and Jahpone Niko both pleaded no contest to charges of burglary and evading, as mentioned by Henry Lee KTVU. Finau received three years of probation and credit for time served, although the prosecutor had pushed for a sentence of over four years in prison.
