
On Saturday morning, a tragic incident occurred at Santa Clara Station where a person was struck and killed by a train, which resulted in disruption to rail services in the area. Southbound train 630, carrying 12 passengers, collided with a person around 10:59 a.m.
No one on the train was injured in the accident, as stated by Caltrain spokesperson Tasha Bartholomew according to the San Mateo Daily Journal. This incident has unfortunately brought the number of Caltrain fatalities to six so far this year, as reported on KRON4.
While the investigation is ongoing, train service in the area was temporarily halted with emergency personnel on the scene.
Caltrain, which serves the communities of San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties, is a vital transportation mode for thousands of daily commuters in the Bay Area.
