On June 3, 2023, a devastating hit-and-run accident took place in the city of San Jose, California, adding yet another tragedy to the already alarming number of traffic fatalities recorded in the area this year, and now, authorities are pleading with the public to help track down those responsible before any more lives are lost.
According to a media advisory released by the San Jose Police Department (SJPD) on July 18, 2023, the horrifying incident involved an adult female bicyclist who was struck by a dark-colored sedan on Monterey Road and Curtner Avenue. The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was riding her bicycle eastbound across Monterey Road outside of any marked crosswalk when the driver slammed into her, leaving her with serious injuries.
Devastatingly, instead of stopping to help or call for aid, the ruthless driver fled the scene, leaving the woman to suffer as nearby witnesses frantically called for emergency services. The traumatized victim was eventually transported to a local hospital, where she later stabilized and was moved to a care facility to recover from the horrific ordeal. However, as reported by SJPD, the woman ultimately succumbed to her injuries on July 8, 2023, and was pronounced deceased.
Authorities are now turning to the public for assistance in identifying and apprehending the callous perpetrator responsible for the hit-and-run crime.
