A high-speed car chase involving a stolen white Toyota Camry, connected to a Cotati marijuana dispensary burglary, ended with the arrest of five suspects on July 25, 2023, in Santa Rosa, CA. According to an SRPD News Release, a Santa Rosa Police Officer spotted the stolen vehicle, which had been reported as involved in a burglary, driving near Maple Avenue and South E Street.
The officer followed the vehicle until enough units were available for a traffic stop. Instead of stopping, the white Toyota Camry sped off, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit that ended when the stolen vehicle crashed at the intersection of North Dutton Avenue and Guerneville Road. All five subjects inside abandoned the vehicle, fleeing in different directions before being apprehended with the help of several Deputies from the Sheriff's Office.
Among the arrestees, there were two adults and three juveniles, including the 16-year-old female driver from Santa Rosa. The driver was charged with felony evasion of a peace officer, possession of stolen property, and a misdemeanor hit and run. The two other juveniles, a 14-year-old male and a 14-year-old female, both from Santa Rosa, were booked at Los Gulicos Juvenile Justice Center, facing charges of resisting arrest and outstanding warrants. The remaining suspects, 18-year-old Natalia Gutierrez-Mena and 18-year-old David Barrios, were booked at the Main Adult Detention Facility for resisting arrest.
Additional evidence discovered inside the vehicle linked the suspects to the Cotati marijuana dispensary burglary, prompting the Cotati Police Department's involvement in the case.
