An unsettling sexual battery incident took place on Millbrae's Spur Trail on Sunday, August 13, 2023, involving a 28-year-old female victim and an unidentified male suspect, and has left the community on high alert as the perpetrator remains at large, according to a San Mateo County Sheriff's Office press release.

The suspect, described as a Hispanic male, approximately 30 years old, 5'7" tall with a heavyset build, was reportedly wearing a black hoodie with the words "Wall Street Journal" displayed on it and black pants, and was riding a black mountain bike. The unsettling encounter happened around 7:35 PM on August 13th when the suspect approached the unsuspecting victim from behind and proceeded to grope her, as detailed in the press release.

After the incident, the suspect immediately fled the scene in the direction of South Ashton Avenue, further eluding law enforcement officers dispatched to the area. Despite a thorough search conducted by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office deputies, the suspect managed to evade capture, as their efforts did not result in the suspect's successful apprehension, leaving the community feeling uneasy and raising concerns for public safety.
