In a desperate pursuit of justice and an attempt to bring closure to a mourning community, San Diego law enforcement officials have intensified their search for wanted murder suspect David Gatheright, asking the public to come forth with any relevant information that may lead to his apprehension. The 42-year-old man has been identified as the prime suspect in the fatal shooting of 53-year-old Brian Noel, which took place in the 1600 block on Logan Avenue in San Diego on June 2nd, 2023. As reported by the San Diego County Crime Stoppers, a reward of up to $1000 is being offered for any tip that will quickly lead to Gatheright's capture or help in solving this tragic crime.
All available resources have been mobilized to locate the elusive suspect, with the San Diego Police Department's (SDPD) Homicide Unit spearheading the investigation. Gatheright, a Black male, has been characterized as measuring 5'11" tall and weighing 170 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. A particular identifying feature is his several neck and chest tattoos. The latest images of the man show him in a photo taken in 2023.
This gruesome case is, without a doubt, a tragedy that has devastated not only the family of the deceased, but also the community at large, with the callous disregard for human life at its heart. According to the Fox 5 San Diego publication, during their investigation, homicide detectives unearthed that Noel and Gatheright engaged in a brief verbal altercation just moments before the fatal encounter.
The authorities were able to piece together this heinous crime meticulously. They interviewed witnesses, gathered vital physical evidence, and pored over surveillance footage from the surrounding areas, ultimately unraveling the likely sequence of events. Their concerted efforts have led them to identifying Gatheright as the prime suspect, but the challenge now lies in capturing the man who has managed to elude their grasp thus far.
San Diego law enforcement officials are urging anyone with pertinent information on the murder or any knowledge about Gatheright's whereabouts to please come forward. They are asking people to act boldly in the interest of solving this case, even providing anonymous channels to do so via the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477, or by contacting the SDPD's Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293.
