Tragedy struck the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts yesterday, September 17. Five people were caught in the shooting spree by unidentified assailant or assailants. Among the victims were two children, one of whom is now fighting for their life after sustaining life-threatening injuries in the shooting, as reported by NBC Boston.
According to Boston 25 News, the incident took place near the Franklin Field housing community on Ames Street, where children were playing at the time of the shooting. The ages of the juvenile victims have been revealed as 11 and 14 years old.
Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox, Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden, and Mayor Michelle Wu stood before the public in a joint press conference on the night of the incident, effectively enjoining the community's aid in their search for answers.
In a particularly poignant plea, Commissioner Cox made it clear that law enforcement needs all the information it can gather to bring the parties responsible to justice, stating, "we need the public's help and support on this."
Thus, an appeal has been made for citizens within the immediate vicinity to provide any pertinent information or evidence.
