Yesterday, a horrifying crash in Charlton, Massachusetts lefts traffic stopped in both directions, injured one person, and led to the arrest of an alleged intoxicated driver. Nathan Miranda, a 37-year-old Winchendon man, is facing multiple drug-related charges after the devastating collision on the Mass Pike that sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries according to a Boston25 news report.
The crash involved a pickup truck driven by Miranda, and a box truck driven by a 34-year-old Everett man. According to the Massachusetts State Police, at 9:13 a.m. yesterday, the box truck flipped on its side at Mile Marker 82, trapping the Everett man inside. A medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene per a Hoodline article.
Miranda was arrested and charged with operating under the influence (OUI) of drugs, including the possession of a Class B narcotic. As reported by MassLive, in addition to OUI-drugs, Miranda faces charges of OUI-drugs causing serious injury and other motor vehicle offenses. The date of Miranda's arraignment has not been set.
