
Yesterday, officers from the Boston Police District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Dawan Johnson, a 45-year-old man from Dorchester, on firearm-related charges after he displayed a weapon during a verbal altercation in Mattapan Square according to a statement from Boston Police.
The situation in Mattapan Square quickly escalated when Johnson reportedly racked a round into the chamber of a 9mm pistol and boarded an MBTA bus heading inbound on Blue Hill Avenue. Police officers promptly stopped the bus and apprehended Johnson, discovering the fully loaded weapon concealed in his backpack.
As a result of the arrest, Johnson was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon to wit a Firearm. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court the statement said.
