A woman lost her life yesterday, after being struck by two vehicles in Springfield, Massachusetts. The fatal accident occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. on Hancock Street, south of the Six Corners roundabout, and sadly, the woman died at the scene, according to MassLive.
While one of the drivers involved remained at the crash site to face the consequences, the other fled, leaving a void in accountability that the Springfield Police Department now seeks to fill. Ryan Walsh, the police spokesperson, urged anyone with information about the fleeing vehicle or driver to contact the Traffic Department at 413-787-6333, or the general police number at 413-787-6325, as the investigation to find this missing piece continues.
Concerningly, this tragic occurrence is not an isolated event, as the streets of Springfield experienced another pedestrian fatality just a mere two weeks ago. According to WWLP, officers were called to the 300-block of Hancock Street, where they found the woman who had succumbed to the injuries sustained from the impact of the two cars. One of the drivers stayed at the crash location but the other one drove away without stopping, echoing a familiar and disconcerting pattern.
