In an effort to reduce waste and promote sustainability, the City of Del Mar and EDCO have taken a leap towards cultivating a greener ethos with their free recycling, shredding, and mulch event on Saturday, Sept. 16.
Hosted at the lower parking lot of Shores Park from 9 a.m. to noon, this initiative invites residents and businesses and Del Mar city residents to participate in responsible disposal of electronic waste, light bulbs, household batteries, and sharps, ensuring a cleaner, safer shared environment, according to the City of Del Mar announcement. However, the collection does emphasize sharps being limited to residents only, and household hazardous waste and pharmaceutical items will not be found within its accepted list.
Understanding the significance of protecting sensitive information, a certified paper shredder will be present to shred up to three banker boxes of documents per household, promoting both security and environmental responsibility. Moreover, while supplies last, residents can take up to three barrels of mulch, making a valuable resource available for gardeners and landscaping enthusiasts.
