Yesterday, the 11th District in Chicago experienced several armed robberies, causing the community to be on high alert. The Community Alert from the Chicago Police Department (CPD) reports suspects wielding handguns, targeting victims across different locations, and using a black sedan.
Perpetrators approached victims on foot or targeted those in their cars. Producing a handgun, they demanded valuable items from victims. A black 2009 Acura was identified as their transportation.
CPD provided information about the crime's locations and timing. Crimes happened at West Cortez St., North Avers Ave., North St. Louis Ave., and West Division St., between the early hours of 4:45 a.m. and 6:50 a.m.
The suspects, according to the Community Alert, are two to three African American males, aged 16-25, wearing black hoodies, black pants, and black ski masks. In one instance, a suspect was seen in a yellow hoodie. Sharing this information aims to enhance vigilance and aid in the suspects' capture.
CPD shared a list of preventive measures, advising residents on how they can assist in the investigation. Walking in larger groups, being aware of surroundings, and non-resistance during a robbery were advised. It is emphasized that community members must report crimes and contribute to preventing criminal activities.
