The eagerly anticipated 3,700 square foot Culver's restaurant in Wrigleyville, known as a beloved Chicago neighborhood, welcomes customers today at 10 a.m. Its strategic location, 1111 West Addison Street, sits near Wrigley Field and signals the debut of the ninth Culver's restaurant in Chicago, as per NBC Chicago press release. The franchise, having been in development since 2014, is a testament to the efforts of Baron Waller, who, as the largest minority franchise owner in the chain, also operates several other restaurants around the city—including Bronzeville, Lincoln Square/Ravenswood, and Pullman.
Area baseball enthusiasts can now partake in Culver's renowned Butterburgers, frozen custard, and hospitable service courtesy of the Wrigleyville debut. The outlet also extends the convenience of a walk-up window for takeout and pickup orders, alongside indoor seating options. As outlined by Culver's co-founder Craig Culver in the release, “Wrigleyville has always laid claim to the best ballpark and supported by the best fans, but it can now boast of hosting the most mouthwatering cuisine. Culver's adds to the victory of every guest, regardless of the game's outcome." Currently, the Wisconsin-based chain has more than 800 outlets across 25 states.
The path to unveiling the Wrigleyville Culver’s had its fair share of hurdles, as documented by Block Club Chicago. Initial plans to establish the restaurant at 3500 N. Clark St. stalled in January 2021, leading to the site being occupied by a Chick-fil-A. However, Waller's unwavering commitment to situate a Culver's in Wrigleyville resulted in the selection of Addison Street for the franchise.
Celebrating the successful opening of the Wrigleyville outlet and progressing another in development, Waller continues his efforts to extend Culver's reach in the city. In a prior interview with Block Club Chicago, Waller expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We can't wait to bring Culver’s to the city. Venturing outside the city for our renowned service, Butterburgers, and custard is no longer a necessity." Those who appreciate the culinary delights of the chain can anticipate Waller's upcoming 10th installation, slated to open at 4347 W. Chicago Ave. in Humboldt Park.
