The second edition of the NASCAR Chicago Street Race is slated for July 6th and 7th, 2024, with the Chicago government expressing faith in NASCAR's commitment to addressing previously voiced concerns. According to Chicago's official statement, NASCAR has worked on improving event logistics and reducing the impact on the local communities.
In response to concerns raised by residents and local officials, NASCAR has agreed to shorten the event's set up and tear down times, lessening city disruptions. Additionally, NASCAR will shoulder costs needed for city departments and agencies, ensuring taxpayers appear to not be burdened financially by the event, unlike previously owing to the previous agreement's shortcomings. This holds NASCAR financially responsible for their event.
In recognizing the importance of diversity, NASCAR also plans to provide opportunities, to include small, minority, and women-owned businesses as vendors during the 2024 Chicago Street Race. This move aligns with Chicago's vision of promoting an inclusive entrepreneurial environment.
These amendments aim to provide an improved experience for both residents and racing fans, while positively impacting the local economy.
