The 24th and Folsom St. joint, Philz Coffee's original location since 2003, quickly established itself in the Mission District's coffee circuit, as per an Eater SF report. Loyal patrons referred to it as a bustling hub, notable for its eclectic art and inviting seating. The shutdown of this well-liked spot sparked disappointment amongst social media users eager to reminisce about candid coffee memories made there.
Nevertheless, it's not the end of the road for Philz Coffee's patronage. The brand confirmed via KRON 4 that all existing employees will find available positions at its other San Francisco-based locations. The Philz Coffee brand lives on, thanks to 12 more outlets in the city, 40 within the Bay Area, and six in the Chicago region.
Phil Jaber, founder of Philz Coffee, spent nearly 25 years diligently studying coffee before setting up the premier store. The journey to becoming a regional favorite is not solely due to its distinctive beverages, such as the esteemed iced mint mojito latte, but also the unwavering support of its fans. Even though it faced complaints in the past regarding labor relations, it continues to persevere among caffeine lovers for a satisfying coffee fix, per Eater SF.
While the original Philz Coffee location to cease operation, the multitude of remaining establishments will persistently cater to the brand's signature beverages. On the specific matter of the building located at the junction of 24th and Folsom Streets, no information has been disclosed. The company expressed their gratitude stating, “the Mission will always retain a cherished spot in our hearts as our initial home, the birthplace and cradle of Philz Coffee."
