On October 7, an undercover sting carried out by the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) and retail loss prevention teams led to the bust of a fencing operation on the 1800 block of Mission Street. The operation resulted in three arrests: Veronica Lumbreras-Villanueva (40), Deysi Ramirez (59), and Marvin Dick Godoy Calderon (43) along with the recovery of $18,000 worth of stolen goods, as highlighted by Hoodline.
Following the arrests, District Attorney Brooke Jenkins presented charges against Lumbreras-Villanueva and Ramirez, emphasizing the danger that fencing poses to local communities and businesses.
As reported by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, on October 12, both women pled not guilty to charges of receiving stolen property and conspiracy. If convicted, they could potentially spend more than three years each in state prison.

While charges have already been leveled, the investigation presses on with the possibility of uncovering more aspects of the fencing operation.
Retail theft networks are not a fresh phenomenon, yet their prevalence in urban centers has been escalating. In such operations, individuals swipe lucrative items from retail outlets to sell or trade at below-market prices, prompting more thefts and damaging local commerce.
