Yesterday, seven separate shooting incidents transpired in Chicago within a five-hour period. The Chicago Police Department provided detailed accounts of all victims who, despite various backgrounds and ages, all fell prey to the city's ongoing gun violence.
The first reported incident saw a 37-year-old man shot in the abdomen and thigh. He was transported to Northwestern Hospital and is currently in critical condition. The second event involved a 38-year-old man who was shot in his right leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
The third incident involved a two-year-old girl being shot in her hand. The girl, the victim of a grim adult conflict, was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in good condition with one person of interest under questioning.
That evening, another two separate incidents added to the tally with the victims being two 32-year-old men. As reported in the fourth and fifth incident reports, one victim sustained a chest wound while parked in his vehicle and the other received a fatal gunshot wound to the head as he walked on a sidewalk.
Four more victims were discovered in an alleyway, all in the hospital after suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to this CPD report. The victims include one 35-year-old man, who was tragically pronounced dead on the scene. As of now, no leads or suspects have been identified.
Another man and woman were then targeted by gunfire from a passing vehicle in the final reported incident of the evening. Both victims, initially in good condition, were transported swiftly to the University of Chicago Hospital.
