The investigation into the horrific murder of Michael Goodin, 70, in the Logan Heights area of San Diego on August 24, has led to a further arrest. In an announcement from the San Diego Police Department, 18-year-old Angel Salcedo is now named as another suspect in this horrendous act.
Goodin was at a trolley stop at the time of the attack after a brief verbal disagreement with a group of individuals that escalated into a violent altercation. Goodin suffered a stab wound to the chest and sustained a beating before his assailants fled the scene. Despite the best efforts of the paramedics, Goodin tragically lost his life that night at the hospital as reported by Hoodline.
Initially, two suspects, 36-year-old Rafael Chavarria and Angelo Soto Vargas, 29, were identified and arrested regarding the murder. Chavarria was arrested by Metropolitan Transit System security officers days after the incident at another trolley stop, while Vargas was found the next day in a camper in San Diego, based on San Diego Police Department information.
In a recent update to having occurred, Angel Salcedo, the third suspect in Goodin's murder case, was found at 3600 Main Street by Southeastern Division officers yesterday. After his arrest, Salcedo was charged with murder and elder abuse, and placed in the San Diego County Jail.
