As the holiday season approaches, impressive Thanksgiving parades nationwide capture the spirit of this festive period. A recent Time Out ranking placed the Chicago Thanksgiving Parade second in the U.S., outshone only by the famous New York City Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
This year, downtown Chicago will host the 89th Thanksgiving Parade on November 23. The gala will feature an array of attractions, including giant balloons, marching bands, cultural groups, equestrians, and decorative floats. NBC Chicago reports that actors Jen Lilley and Jesse Hutch will co-host, complemented by performances from country artists Reyna Roberts and Tayler Holder.
The tradition of Chicago's annual Thanksgiving parade attracts not only locals but diverse attendees from across the U.S. The parade's route extends from State Street, to march down Ida B. Wells Drive and ends at Randolph Street. The three-hour event from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. promises a vibrant, visually stimulating spectacle of giant balloons, magnificent floats, and performance groups.
Besides the iconic Macy's parade in New York City, other U.S. cities like Detroit, Philadelphia, and New Orleans also hold their own Thanksgiving parades, adding a local flavor to each celebration. According to Time Out, these parades also display marching bands, balloons, and local celebrities.
The Chicago Thanksgiving Parade has a long, rich history that delivers a treasured family experience. Chicago Thanksgiving Parade Foundation Executive Director Daniel Mulka conveys his eagerness, stating "Our Chicago Thanksgiving Parade has become through the years a vibrant event that is an integral piece of what makes our city so great and unique."
