
In a tragic early morning incident, an unidentified vehicle struck and left a pedestrian dead on the streets of San Francisco. According to the San Francisco Police Department, the encounter took place at approximately 2:41 a.m. at the intersection of South Van Ness Ave. and 18th St. on July 9.
The scene attended by SFPD officers shortly after the impact found the adult male victim succumbing to his sustained injuries, despite the immediacy of aid rendered and the arrival of medics who pronounced him deceased. Fleeing the scene and currently at large, the driver responsible has sparked an active manhunt, courtesy of the diligent efforts of the department's Traffic Collision Investigations Unit (TCIU), as the perpetrator remains outstanding.
Authorities are now extending a call for the public's assistance in the hopes of closing the net on the evasive suspect. The SFPD has opened up various channels of communication, urging potential witnesses or informants to step forward.
