Tragedy struck the Mission District over the weekend as the San Francisco Police Department reported a brutal stabbing that claimed the life of a 27-year-old male and left another fighting for his. According to the police department's statement, officers responded to a collision at 24th Street and Potrero Avenue early Saturday, only to uncover a far more sinister scene.
Responding to a catastrophic vehicle collision into a business building, first responders were soon advised of the true horror that the smashed vehicle harbored two males with life-threatening stab wounds. As detailed by the SFPD, the duo had been attacked at a separate location before desperately attempting to self-convey to safety and medical assistance.
The identity of the decedents has not been released pending notification of next of kin, but the department confirms that despite commendable life-saving efforts by medics and first responders, the younger victim succumbed to his harrowing injuries. His companion remains in critical condition as of the latest update.
The incident, which has sparked an intensive investigation by the SFPD's Homicide Detail, happened just before the witching hour of midnight. With the case flagged as open and active, local authorities urge anyone with information to step forward. Calls can be placed anonymously to the SFPD Tip Line at 1-415-575-4444, or texts can be sent to TIP411, starting the message with "SFPD."
