In a festive fusion of sesame and pine, Sesame Place San Diego is decking the halls and spinning the dreidel to celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah this holiday season. As Patch reported, the family-focused destination, nestled in the heart of Chula Vista, has brought back its heartwarming "A Very Furry Christmas" event, offering a dazzling display of holiday lights, a Christmas tree maze, and a Santa Claus meet-and-greet that's sure to jingle some bells.
With exclusivity on their side, Sesame Place stands as the only West Coast park themed after the beloved children's program, its borders swelling with Sesame Street-inspired rides and live character shows, including some water attractions now sleeping till summer and let's not forget the interactive Sesame Street neighborhood—where the 123 stoop stands as timeless as ever.
But the tinsel tale doesn’t end there; come December 10, the park will transform to host a Hanukkah Celebration complete with menorah candle lighting, a dance party and Hanukkah storytime that promises to shine a light on the Festival of Lights. Adjunct to the festivities, a delectable array of Glatt Kosher food—and yes, we're talking Jeff's Gourmet Sausage, supervised by Rabbi Daniel Reich—will offer a savory slice of tradition "while supplies last."
And while the holiday cheer reaches a crescendo, Sesame Place is tipping its festive hat to the young and the young-at-heart with a gift: children three to nine can revel in the park's attractions free of charge when tagging along with a full-paying adult—a deal hard to pass up and a holiday largess that extends through January 7, as the lights dim on another season of making memories.
With the weekend calendar marking Saturdays and Sundays, plus a sprinkle of additional dates, families keen on spending time beneath the new 24-foot Christmas tree or who plan to groove along with Elmo during a rousing game of dreidel should pencil into their planners a trip to Sesame Place San Diego's yuletide rodeo located at 2052 Entertainment Circle, where the holiday spirit is as unyielding as Big Bird's eight-foot stature.
