In what reads like a scene straight out of a gritty crime drama, Cook County Sheriff's Police snagged more than they bargained for during a routine traffic stop in Sauk Village on a quiet Sunday night. According to their official Facebook page, authorities pulled over a vehicle flying under the radar without visible registration, only to discover the driver was operating with a suspended license and the air was thick with the unmistakable odor of marijuana.
Officers observed a plastic bag sporting the California Cannabis logo nonchalantly resting on the passenger side door. It didn't take long for the passenger to fess up to holding a stash of the green stuff, revealing a clear knotted bag of what was suspected to be cannabis. The search didn't end there. Found rolling on the vehicle's floor was a hand-rolled cigar, the insides spilling out more suspected cannabis. In the trunk is a firearm with a scratched-off serial number, both lacking a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card or a Concealed Carry License.
As Sheriff’s Police engaged in a secondary search, they stumbled upon startling evidence that suggested more than just traffic violations—blood traces and a bullet hole branded the passenger side door, infusing the scene with the foreboding shadow of violence.
Confronted with a vehicle that reeked of both cannabis and crime, felony charges were inevitably approved against the driver as the Sheriff's Police delve deeper, the investigation surging forward.
