Last Wednesday, two young individuals from San Francisco were apprehended by Colma's police for stealing Tide laundry detergent. According to the Colma Police Department's Misdemeanor Monday briefing, the duo, a 20-year-old female and a 21-year-old male, were caught with their loot valued at approximately $119.45 in the parking lot of a business on Junipero Serra Boulevard.

The suspects, walking towards a silver Mitsubishi, were intercepted by officers, who responded to the call at 8:58 a.m. A surprising twist unfolded as it was revealed that a restraining order was in place, indicating a more complicated story beyond a simple theft. The male was the restrained party, while the female, surprisingly, was the protected person.

Things took another turn when a consent search of the vehicle uncovered an additional ten jugs of Tide detergent. During questioning, the female suspect admitted that these were stolen goods from another location. The Colma Police Department noted that the targeted business had been victimized before, with a total of $2,641.25 in laundry detergents taken by these serial thieves.

The young woman, a resident of San Francisco, was charged with petty theft and conspiracy, receiving a citation before being released. Meanwhile, her accomplice faced additional charges for violating the restraining order, leading to his confinement in San Mateo County Jail. The Colma PD is escalating the case, sending additional felony charges to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
