Architectural Elegance in the Bag: Frank Gehry Stuns with Exclusive Louis Vuitton Collection at Art Basel MiamiSource: Facebook/Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton has unveiled its latest luxury offering, a limited-edition handbag collection by renowned architect Frank Gehry. The debut took place during this year's high-profile Art Basel Miami Beach.

According to WWD, the collection draws inspiration from Gehry's esteemed career with themes like architecture and form, material exploration, and animals. Among the eye-catchers were the signature Capucines bags, the Twisted Box Trunk, and a clutch based on Gehry's 'Bear With Us' sculpture from 2014. The Art Basel stand, stationed in the West Lobby of the Miami Beach Convention Center, allows visitors to get up-close with these luxe creations from December 8 to December 10.

Staying true to Gehry's groundbreaking aesthetics, the scenography inside Louis Vuitton's booth featured wood and cardboard models amidst fabric mesh structures reminiscent of sails. This was complemented by original artworks, sketches, and models that span the architect's longstanding collaboration with the brand. "The items on display fully encapsulate Frank Gehry's collaboration with Louis Vuitton," as Designboom stated.

Additional highlights from Gehry's work include a Capucines MM Floating Fish handbag, reflecting his penchant for marine motifs, and another that sports a 3D cement-effect technique, giving off a tactile architecture vibe. The Art Basel showing also revived Gehry's whimsical sculpture trunk from the 200 Trunks, 200 Visionaries exhibit, which paid homage to Louis Vuitton’s 200th anniversary with figures echoing 'Alice in Wonderland.'

Art and fashion aficionados can expect more than just handbags. Gehry's Les Extraits perfume bottles, flaconnier, and a myriad of projects and artworks for Louis Vuitton are also on display, along with a portrait of the architect by French artist Jean-Philippe Delhomme.
