The festivities started with an event that was supposed to make its debut three years ago but was delayed, understandably, by the pandemic. As reported by CBS News Miami, O Cinema South Beach threw the doors open on the Miami Art Week digital magazine, a new platform that contrasts nicely alongside the traditional, palpable scene of bustling galleries and art connoisseurs.

With more than a staggering 20 art fairs and in excess of 100 satellite events dotted around Miami, pretenders to the artistic throne have their work cut out for them to get noticed. Yet, to those thousands of artists with aspirations sky-high, this is their Super Bowl. Alana Taylor, an organizer with Miami Art Week, emphasized the local talent's fervor. "We really are empowering the local art community to come and showcase their work to each other so it's really exciting," she told CBS News Miami.

Starting tomorrow through December 10, Art Basel Miami Beach expects to pull in a high-rolling crowd of First Choice and Preview VIP guests at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Further, Design Miami and Art Miami are also entering the fray.
