
Tragedy struck Atlanta this weekend as the city grappled with two separate shooting incidents, leaving one man dead and another critically injured. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, a fatal shooting occurred late Saturday night at an apartment complex situated at 4005 Campbellton Road SW. Responding to a call at around 10 p.m., Atlanta police discovered a male victim who, despite lifesaving efforts, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The details around this fatal encounter remain sparse, but authorities have since activated their homicide unit to thoroughly investigate the matter. As of yet, no suspects have been publicly identified in the Campbellton Road shooting.
On the same weekend, a mere hours after the aforementioned killing, a potential home invader was shot by a resident defending their property. This episode of violence unfolded at a home on Richardson Street SW, where a man was shot in the chest after reportedly attempting to break into the residence. As per a Channel 2 Action News report, the injured man is in critical condition following the incident which occurred at approximately 3:13 a.m. on Sunday.
The shooting victim's identity has not yet been released, and it remains to be seen if the homeowner will face charges for discharging their weapon. Law enforcement officers are continuing to hardly piece together the circumstances that led up to the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing.
