A family feud turned deadly in College Park when a 41-year-old man allegedly shot and killed his father. Clayton County Police have charged Michael Brandon Lambert with malice murder in connection with the death of 56-year-old Daryl Holmes in his Friar Court home, FOX 5 Atlanta reported. The grisly scene unfolded after Lambert and Holmes were reportedly embroiled in a domestic dispute just the day before the fatal incident. The officers had responded to a distress call at the residence on December 12, and although they attempted to mediate the conflict, tension between the two seemingly persisted.
The following day, on December 13, an alarmed family member contacted the police, fearing for Holmes' wellbeing, and upon arrival at the College Park home, officers found Holme's body bearing a gunshot wound. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the police were initially directed to the troubling situation by family members' concerns, leading to the unsettling discovery. The encounter the previous day with police was described but details about how they intervened were scarce.
With Lambert pinpointed as the main suspect, law enforcement wasted no time tracking him down. He was arrested on December 14 in Lake City, thanks to an informant's tip provided to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office. Hoodline reported that the charges against Lambert are grave, spanning malice murder, aggravated assault and weapons violations, considering his past conviction as a felon, which prohibited him from legally possessing a firearm.
The investigation is ongoing, and the case continues to shed a somber light on the often unpredictable and dangerous nature of domestic arguments. Police urge anyone with additional information to come forward as they piece together the circumstances that led to this brutal loss of life in College Park.
