A disturbing outbreak of gunfire erupted in a San Antonio H-E-B parking lot on Monday night, leaving a toddler and two adults wounded in a chaos-filled scene. According to KSAT, the violence unfolded on the north side of the city at the intersection of San Pedro Avenue and Oblate Drive.
The San Antonio Police Department reported that the shootout involved two groups who decided to violently resolve their conflict in public, endangering those nearby. "Two groups of people fired on each other in the parking lot of the grocery store," SAPD detailed in a statement obtained by KSAT. A man in his 20s was discovered at the back of the store with non-life-threatening injuries.
Further chaos ensued when one of the vehicles involved in the gunfight was seen speeding away from the scene, only to end up at an apartment complex on Jackson Keller Road. There, a 22-year-old woman and a 3-year-old child were found with graze wounds, as reported by MySanAntonio. Both were taken to the university hospital and are understood to be in stable condition.
In the aftermath of the shooting, authorities have not yet made any arrests. The police are continuing to urgently seek out information that can help quickly bring the perpetrators to justice. The H-E-B store has become an unintended backdrop for violence that also saw an incident involving security guards and an attempted theft earlier that day, marking a grave day of gun-related incidents in the city.
