Canada's Lynx Air is gearing up to connect Toronto with two major U.S. cities, Boston and San Francisco, adding more affordable options to travelers in 2024. Mark your calendars for March 28, 2024, as Lynx rolls out its Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) route. Initially, the budget carrier will offer four flights a week before ramping up this frequency to six times a week starting April 22.
The Toronto-based airline isn't stopping there, though. Starting May 3, 2024, say hello to Lynx Air on the YYZ to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) route, where the flights will take to the skies four times weekly, bumping up to daily from June 11. "Adding Boston and San Francisco to our ever-expanding network is a significant milestone for our airline," Vijay Bathija, Lynx's Chief Commercial Officer, said in a statement obtained by Aviation Week.
Taking on established carriers such as Air Canada, and United Airlines, Lynx Air is not shying away from competition. The low-cost airline has been stretching its wings across borders, having launched flights to U.S. destinations like Tampa and Orlando from Toronto, and flights to Los Angeles and Phoenix starting back in October.
Teasing flyers with the promise of low fares, Lynx Air shared a post on Instagram: "If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to book with Lynx and save on your base fare. 🎶✈️🐾 Introducing SAN FRANCISCO to our network!" They added that flights are taking off in May 2024, signaling travelers to get ready to book their seats at FlyLynx.com. The announcement was first spotted by eagle-eyed netizens who saw the post pop up on Lynx Air's Instagram feed yesterday.
Looking further ahead, the carrier's expansion won't just be limited to American soil. Lynx is slated to bring its no-frills flying experience to Mexico, with daily flights from Toronto to Cancun kicking off in February 2024. Travelers on the lookout for budget-friendly skies might just find their silver lining with Lynx Air's new offerings.
