Later the same night, a call led officers to Southwood Vista Apartments at 4005 Campbellton Road SW, as reported by 11Alive. There, police found another man suffering from a gunshot wound. Attempts to save his life were in vain, as he was pronounced dead at the scene. The hunt for motives and suspects is in the hands of homicide detectives.
Violence continued unabated into the early hours of Sunday when gunshots pierced the calm of an apartment complex off University Avenue SW at around 3:10 a.m. Officers discovered a 45-year-old woman with a gunshot injury to her armpit, and she was subsequently taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with stable vitals. In a turn of fate, she remains tight-lipped, giving out no information about the shooting to authorities.
Just minutes after the previous incident, police were called to a townhouse on Richardson Street SW. In an act of self-defense turned bloody encounter, a man was shot in the stomach after he entered a stranger's home and was confronted by a female resident. Transported to the same facility, Grady Memorial Hospital, the man now faces burglary charges, his condition stable.
