A gruesome family tragedy unfolded in the quiet town of Toccoa, North Georgia, where a man is in custody for the murder of his father and the severe assault of his mother. Christopher Vaughn, 39, was arrested after deputies responded to a distressing scene at a Bart Holcomb Road residence yesterday morning.
According to the FOX 5 Atlanta, the incident occurred at around 7:40 a.m. on December 28, only hours after a previous call to the home regarding a domestic disturbance. There, the authorities discovered the body of 63-year-old William James Vaughn. His wife, 62-year-old Janet Lynn Vaughn, was found in a neighboring house with significant injuries and had to be airlifted to the hospital for treatment; her condition remains undisclosed.
The investigation, led by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), revealed that the couple's son, Christopher, was charged with one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault. Before the stabbing report, deputies had already visited the Vaughn residence earlier in the day around 6 a.m. for a verbal domestic disturbance, but authorities have not released details about the initial call.
