
An 18-year-old woman was left fighting for her life after being brutally stabbed in the Grand Crossing neighborhood of Chicago, authorities reported. The attack occurred late on Monday night when the woman, inside a vehicle, was assaulted and sustained a stabbing wound to the leg by a male in the 7800 block of South Maryland Avenue, FOX 32 Chicago reported.
The perpetrator, having inflicted the grievous injury, made a getaway in a red sedan, leaving the victim in a critical state. She was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center. A male who fled the scene described the wound as critical, with the Chicago Police stating that no arrests had been made, as per details obtained from the Chicago Tribune.
The incident, which took place shortly before 8:45 p.m., has prompted an investigation by Area Two detectives, who are still searching for the suspect.
As the community seeks answers and the victim clings to life, the authorities have not released further details about the potential motive or the identity of the suspect.
