The close-knit community of Alamo Heights is remembering one of its stars, Eddie Moreno, former Alamo Heights High School basketball player, whose life was tragically altered by a road rage shooting that left him paralyzed over a decade ago. Following his recent passing, the neighborhood is preparing to bid farewell at funeral services set for this week. According to a statement obtained by MSN, the viewing for Moreno will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Porter Loring Mortuary, with a rosary to be held during the visitation. The mass services are scheduled for Thursday at St. Anthony De Padua at 11 a.m.
Moreno, who was just shy of turning 30, had been living with paralysis since the 2011 shooting at the age of 17. His mother described him as "the strongest person she'd ever known and gave it all he had to the very end, just shy of 13 years." Moreno's struggle and resilience had rallied the San Antonio community around him, as reported by MSN. During the times when the neighborhood changed around him, he remained a constant reminder of both vulnerability and strength.
