Firefighters from the length and breadth of Arizona converged on the State Capitol to pay tribute to their comrades who've laid down their lives in service. In an age-old tradition, they gathered Sunday to honor 14 fallen firefighters at the Arizona Fallen Firefighter and Emergency Paramedic Memorial.

This remembrance was particularly poignant for the Scottsdale Fire Department, as they recently lost Captain Kory Yule to cancer. The Professional Fire Fighters of Arizona orchestrated the event, which included a series of ceremonies, one of which honored Yule. "We lost a really good person—firefighter, captain, mentor, and the list goes on," said Scottsdale Fire Captain Tony Ambrosia, as stated by ABC15.

"It's an amazing time to see how everybody comes together as fire departments throughout the state to honor these men and women," Cory Tolman, the Honor Guard Commander for the event, told the crowd. Amy Seets, who was attending to see her son's name etched on the memorial wall, shared, "Each name rings a bell of sacrifice and untold stories of bravery, which resonates deeply across communities," as reported by Azcentral.
