A woman was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck in a west Phoenix hit-and-run early Sunday, with police still searching for the SUV that left the scene. The crash shut down a major intersection for several hours as investigators worked to piece together what happened.
First responders were called around 2 a.m. to Camelback Road and 43rd Avenue after receiving reports that a woman had been hit by an unknown vehicle. According to Arizona’s Family, Phoenix firefighter-paramedics transported her to a hospital in critical condition, while officers were unable to locate the vehicle and believe it was an SUV.
Roadway Reopened As Search Continues
The roadway remained closed for multiple hours during the police investigation but has since reopened. Authorities have not publicly released the woman’s identity, a more detailed description of the SUV or information about the circumstances leading up to the collision.
