
A manhunt is on for a gun-toting thief after a heart-racing showdown in Texas last Friday, the Austin Police Department (APD) reports. The alleged perp, described as a white or Hispanic male in his late teens to mid-twenties, is accused of firing multiple shots at a homeowner who caught him red-handed breaking into his vehicle.
In the dead of night, around 2:16 a.m. on December 29, the unsuspecting homeowner awoke to the sound of his car being burglarized, leading to a chase that ended with the suspect brandishing a handgun and shooting at the victim's vehicle. The suspect then escaped in a stolen white Hyundai, the police detailed in a statement. The suspect was described wearing a hoodie mix of white, red, and blue hoodies emblazoned with "Polo" on the right and "1967" on the left sleeves, and black or dark blue shorts with white print, his appearance capped off with a distinct white and black shoes a flash of red at the toe give cops a bead on the suspect.
The authorities are now turning to the public for help, urging anyone with information or footage of the incident to step forward. According to the Austin Police Department, a reward of up to $1,000 is on the table through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program for any tips that lead to an arrest in this aggravated assault case, the residents are asked to either visit austincrimestoppers.org or call 512-472-8477 to submit their tips.
