
Authorities are on the hunt for a suspect tied to a spree of mail theft in Austin, and they're calling on locals to come forward with any information. The Austin Police Department (APD) has released details and a snapshot of a man accused of plundering a trove of letters and packages from an apartment complex on Aldrich Street earlier this week.
According to a report from APD, the theft took place in the wee hours of a Wednesday morning, specifically at 3:57 a.m. The man in question allegedly breached the mail room, and with a mail master key, gained access to all mailboxes before helping himself generously to the residents' mail.
Officials are piecing together the suspect's identity, described as a black male in his 20s. At the time of the crime, he sported a black hoodie, and black jeans, and rounded out his attire with Nike gray tennis shoes and a pink bine cap.
The police department has turned to the community for help, urging anyone with a lead to reach out anonymously. There is a bounty of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest, adding a silver lining to the cloud hanging over the victims of this crime.
