In a quiet cul-de-sac of Pacifica, a routine police patrol took a turn when officers stumbled upon a Dodge Durango and its occupant, 20-year-old Daly City resident Isaiah Sanabria. According to the Pacifica Police Department, the encounter occurred around 8:00 PM on January 26, where officers spotted contraband, triggering a search that revealed a bevy of illegal items, including narcotics, a switchblade, and a loaded "ghost" gun capable of automatic fire.
Ghost guns, so named because they lack serial numbers and hence are difficult to trace, have increasingly become a focal point in the ongoing debate over gun control. In Sanabria's possession was one such firearm, clandestinely modified for fully automatic discharge. Police assert that the handgun was accompanied by a large-capacity magazine, further compounding the illegality of the find.
Sanabria now faces multiple charges: possession of a large-capacity magazine, an undetectable firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public, a machinegun, a minor in possession of a handgun, carrying a switchblade knife on their person, and carrying a loaded firearm both as an unlawful possessor and not the registered owner. Following the arrest, Sanabria was booked into the San Mateo County Jail under these serious allegations.
The Pacifica Police Department in their announcement of the arrest, has urged anyone with additional information related to the case or the incident to reach out. Tipsters can contact the Pacifica Police directly, or, offer their insights anonymously through the Silent Witness Tip Line.
