The City of Goodyear has greenlit the construction of a Buc-ee's travel center, a Texas-based gas station and convenience store giant, near Interstate 10 and Bullard Avenue. The plan includes 120 fueling stations geared exclusively for passenger vehicles and a sprawling 74,000-square-foot retail space, reported ABC15. The move is anticipated to inject more than 200 full-time jobs into the Goodyear local economy and infuse the city with an array of consumer options.

Buc-ee's rezoning request for the vast 71-acre property west of Phoenix not only promises a substantial increase in employment but also signals the brand's first venture into Arizona. "I’m thrilled that Buc-ee’s is interested in Goodyear as a new location," said Goodyear Mayor Joe Pizzillo. "It’s more than just a gas station or a convenience store," he told ABC15. The facility is set to offer a gaping convenience store, roughly 23% larger than a football field, positively disrupting the local retail landscape.

Buc-ee’s director of Real Estate and Development Stan Beard expressed satisfaction with the city's supportive stance. "We are happy to hear of the city’s decision tonight. Buc-ee’s is continuing its process toward making Goodyear our first home in Arizona, and this was a really big step toward that goal," Beard conveyed in a statement obtained by ABC15. The company prides itself on paying above minimum wage, providing full benefits, a 6% matching 401k, and three weeks of paid vacation according to details released by the company.

Concerns regarding increased traffic, especially from semi trucks, were addressed by officials. Mayor Pizzillo clarified that the proposed Buc-ee's location will not allow semi trucks, easing residents' anxiety as gleaned from 12News reports. The Buc-ee's brand, known for its exceptionally clean restrooms and expansive food selection, has been a staple in Texas for over four decades. It has gained a devoted following as it ventures beyond Texas borders.
