
A day marked by violence in Hayward, as the city records its first homicide of the year. The Hayward Police Department responded to a shooting that left one man dead on Wednesday afternoon, according to an official statement. The fatality was reported near the 21000 block of Foothill Blvd around 3:25 p.m., where officers discovered the victim with gunshot wounds.
The unidentified male was found unresponsive and, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical responders. Authorities have the victim's identity but are keeping it under wraps until the next of kin have been notified. A suspect associated with the fatal shooting was detained at the location, his identity also remains undisclosed.
Reassurances have been given to the public, with police believing they have pinpointed everyone involved in the incident and maintaining there is no further danger to the community. However, the investigation into the circumstances of the shooting is ongoing.
