A man has been cuffed in connection with a road rage shooting that left another driver with a bullet wound to the face earlier this month near I-10 and Wild Horse Pass in Arizona. The suspect identified as 39-year-old Salvatore Patrick Kupreisis was nabbed at the Lone Butte Casino, as reported by abc15.com. The gripping event unfolded on January 4 when the victim, encountering a high-speed brush with death, managed to reach a nearby gas station post-shooting and was quickly transported to the hospital in critical but stable condition.
The victim, whose identity has yet to be disclosed, was able to provide a description of the shooter's vehicle before being to place rushed to the hospital. According to authorities, the victim's dash camera captured the license plate number of the suspect's car, which ultimately led to Kupreisis's apprehension. ABC15 revealed Kupreisis might have traded in his car following the incident in a possible attempt to dodge arrest on grave charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault.
On the day of the incident, police hurriedly descended upon the stretch between Chandler Boulevard and Wild Horse Pass after reports of gunshots came in. The area became a hub for law enforcement looking for clues, a stark contrast to the regular hum of commuter traffic. The Department of Public Safety has not yet released further details about the suspect apart from the arrest, but they continue the investigation into what caused this dramatic escalation of a road encounter.
The timely arrest has brought some resolution to an episode where a mundane commute was shattered by a spasm of violence. Authorities are still calling on anyone with information to come forward and are asking individuals to reach out at 602-223-2212, as reported by Hoodline.
