In the early hours of Sunday morning, tragedy struck in west Phoenix with a lethal drive-by shooting at a house party. Maricopa County sheriff’s deputies received reports of gunfire around 2:15 a.m, near 67th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road, a site later swarmed by a pronounced police presence. According to abc15.com, upon arrival, a grim scene was uncovered—an adult found in the yard with a fatal gunshot wound and promptly declared deceased.
Aside from the fatality, two other individuals were discovered to have been injured, yet they survived with wounds not deemed life-threatening. As per the same report, it's believed that a vehicle approached the house, where revelers were gathered, and unleashed a hail of bullets in their direction. The motivation behind the shooting, however, remains as obscure as the identity of the assailant or assailants involved.
In a turn mirroring this account, Arizona's Family reports that detectives are vigorously investigating the chain of events leading up to the violence, and assert that the other two victims' injuries were non-life-threatening. The neighborhood, now clouded by the gravity of violence, awaits answers as the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office digs for clues in the hopes of bringing the unknown assailants to justice.
The victims names have yet to be released as the investigation proceeds. Law enforcement officials have not provided any additional information regarding potential suspects, but they are urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
