A blaze that engulfed a Jackson County home over the weekend has left one person dead and two others injured, authorities confirmed. The fire, which broke out Saturday on Nowhere Road in Nicholson, proved fatal for one individual, as reported by the Nicholson Area Fire Rescue. Additionally, two victims, who were rescued by a passerby from the fiery grip of the house, have been transported to the hospital in stable condition, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.
Multiple fire departments, including Jackson County Fire, Neese-Sanford Fire, and Athens-Clarke County Fire, were called to the scene to assist Nicholson Area Fire Rescue. Both of the injured were rushed by Madison County EMS to receive medical care, as flames consumed the house, as stated by a Classic City News report.
The identity of the individuals involved in the fire has not been released as investigations by the Georgia Fire Marshal and Jackson County Coroner's Office are currently ongoing. These inquiries aim to unravel the origins of the deadly blaze and determine the cause of death of the victim found at the site.
Both the state fire marshal and Jackson County officials are conducting thorough investigations into what ignited the fatal event, according to statements from the Nicholson Area Fire Rescue and corroborated by FOX 5 Atlanta.
