Flames engulfed a palatial Paradise Valley estate Saturday, causing what fire officials believe to be a total loss of the multimillion-dollar property. The Phoenix Fire Department responded to the inferno, which was reported shortly after 1:30 p.m. near 36th Street and Camelback Road, battling a blaze that had consumed the attic of the luxurious home, Fox 10 Phoenix reported.

According to Captain Rob McDade of the Phoenix Fire, the amount of fire and smoke was already substantial when crews arrived, "We found a tremendous amount of fire and smoke already working within this house," The home which is valued at over $4.3 million, had recently completed a lengthy and extensive remodel which will now be scrutinized by investigators as the potential catalyst for the fire that took their home, sending plumes of smoke visible throughout the Valley.

The blaze necessitated a two-alarm response, with firefighters from both Phoenix and Scottsdale dousing the flames from atop ladder trucks after the fire made the roof too unstable for an internal attack. Crews confirmed nobody was left inside and focused efforts on containing the fire from outside to prevent it from spreading to neighboring homes as 12 News detailed.

"This will look like a total loss to this home," McDade said, describing the large 6 to 7,000-square-foot residence's state post-incident. There were no reported injuries with a man who was watching the home for his son and daughter-in-law, he was able to make it out safely according to firefighters.
