According to a newly unveiled police report from this past Friday, excessive drinking may have been the impetus for a violent Customer altercation that culminated in the tragic incident where the husband of a late Maricopa County attorney fatally shot both his girlfriend and her mother, before tragically ending his own life.
The devastating Christmas Eve tragedy that struck a Phoenix community when David De Nitto, the widower of former Maricopa County Attorney Allister Adel, killed his girlfriend Molly Cash and her mother Cindy Domini, before committing suicide. A police report obtained by AZFamily detailed a night of heavy drinking that escalated into a violent altercation and ended with the grim discovery of three bodies in a Phoenix home.
The evening reportedly turned chaotic with adults consuming copious amounts of peanut butter whiskey, leading to aggressive behavior from De Nitto. Witnesses told police that he became confrontational with his sons, inciting a dispute with the statement, "shut the f...k up." The violence peaked when De Nitto allegedly grabbed Cash, spun her into a wall, and subsequently chased her son with an alcohol bottle after being punched. Fleeing and returning, Cash's son and his girlfriend witnessed De Nitto armed with an AR-15 rifle. As per the report by AZFamily, after attempting to rescue Cash and Domini, he heard gunshots and found his mother and grandmother fatally shot.
"She was strong minded, very opinionated, tells it like it is," Phil Tibi, an associate broker with North&Co., told AZFamily in an interview.
A testament to the esteem in which Cash was held, a friend, Patrick McCreery, recalled her warmth, saying, "Molly was always the one where you immediately felt like family. When you met her, she treated you like family. Loyal, caring, and loving would be words I’d use to describe her. The ripple effect of this loss will be felt for generations to come," in a poignant statement to AZFamily. Following their untimely deaths, a GoFundMe page has been set up to assist with funeral expenses for Molly and her mother, exemplifying the community's spirit of support in times of profound grief.
